HUMAN HAIR WIG MAINTENANCE
Good maintenance of your wig is essential. This is because how you care for your wig determines how long it will last. Use silicon serum / spray in your hair to keep it silky, shiny, and tangle free. But remember that you only need a pea-sized amount – a little goes a long way. If you’re using a spray, hold the bottle 20cm away from the hair and spray lightly. Too much serum can build up on the hair, making it tangle and appear dull. So, the more frequently you apply serum, the more you’ll need to wash your hair. Brush your wig / weave twice a day, starting at the tips.
When brushing, hold your hair in the middle. Gently and slowly brush out the tangles at the ends, working your way up to the top of your head. Don’t brush vigorously as this will cause the hair to shed (and curly hair to lose its curl). A detangling brush or wide-toothed comb may be used to brush out severe tangles. Wash your hair at least once a week. But make sure you’ve brushed out all the tangles beforehand. How often you wash your hair will depend on things like air quality and humidity. Never sleep with wet or damp hair. We recommend air drying your hair. Gently pat your hair with a dry towel and leave it to stand. If you use a blow dryer, always use a medium heat setting. Spray leave-in conditioner and brush gently. Don’t tug on the hair as it may loosen the weft and cause shedding. Deep condition the hair regularly to maintain its optimal condition. If heating tools are used frequently, deep condition at least once a month. If the hair has been coloured or chemically treated, increase this to twice a month. The best way to maintain the health of your wig is to treat it like your own hair. Natural oils, deep treatment and cremes are some of the best ways to keep it from becoming dry or brittle. Store your wig on a mannequin or wig stand when not in use.
CURLY HAIR HI TEMP / SYNTHETIC WIGS MAINTENANCE
Synthetic fibres tangle and frizz (especially curly wigs) more easily than real hair does. This means that more care and attention is needed. The following practical solutions can help you calm and manage synthetic fibres on a regular basis: Don’t brush wigs with a tight curl. Instead, use your fingers to gently remove tangles. Brush only when wet, with a Denman brush or a wide-toothed comb. You can use a large-toothed comb when hair is dry, but don’t comb it more than twice a day – too much combing causes curly wigs to shed and frizz. Follow the washing instructions. For curly wigs, take care not to scrunch the hair in the water. We recommend air drying your curly wig on a mannequin or wig stand. This will allow the set curl pattern to return. Never use products with mineral oils on your curly wig. A water-based spray-on moisturiser is best. You can also make your own moisturising spray by mixing one third glycerin (an ingredient that draws moisture into your hair) and two-thirds water.
BRAZILIAN / PERUVIAN WEAVE MAINTENANCE

Remy hair and chemically stripped hair will tangle slightly less than non-Remy hair, but it is important to note that all hair will tangle to some degree. Here’s how to manage your Brazilian or Peruvian weave: Brush your hair twice a day, starting at the tips. When brushing, hold your hair in the middle. Gently and slowly brush out the tangles at the ends, working your way up to the top of your head. Don’t brush vigorously as this will cause the hair to shed (and curly hair to lose its curl). A detangling brush or wide-toothed comb may be used to brush out severe tangles. Always brush your hair before washing it. Gently wash your hair in warm water with sulphate-free shampoo, taking care not to scrunch the hair as this will cause tangling. If you have used a lot of product on your hair and it’s not attached to your head, leave it to soak for 10 minutes. Rinse your hair with warm water. Apply sulphate-free conditioner, remembering not to scrunch the hair. Rinse the conditioner out thoroughly under warm water. We recommend air drying your hair. LACE FRONT WIG FITTING
The lace at the front mimics a natural hairline, allowing you to pull the hair away from your face in a variety of hairstyles. Applying a lace front wig is easy and fast. Flatten your hair with a wig cap and prepare your skin. Adjust the wig by tightening straps and trimming the lace, if necessary. If you do cut the lace, make sure you trim it neatly and as close to your hairline as possible. Take care not to cut the hair. Apply any adhesive or wig tape and pull your wig on. Alternatively, you can use gripping combs at the front of the wig to secure it to your head. Tip: to put your wig on, flip your head upside down and pull it onto the back of your head first. Then ease the front of the wig onto the front of your head. Don’t pull the lace with your fingers as it could tear. Rather adjust the wig by pulling the hair at the front.
ATTACHING CLIP INS
Clip ins are easy to attach and give you longer, thicker, more voluminous hair in minutes.
1. Part your hair from your one earlobe to the other. Tie the top part of your hair up and leave the bottom part loose.
2. Open the clip ins and attach them as close to the roots of your loose hair as possible, starting with the middle clip.
3.Repeat steps 1 and 2 by starting at the lower part of your head and working your way up. Follow your hairline and be sure to spread them out evenly. You might need a few practice rounds to learn, but once you’ve got it, it should take minutes.
4. Your extensions should feel secure and shouldn’t come out until you unclip them.
5. NEVER slide the extensions off without first opening the clip.
ATTACHING A PHONDO / AFRO POM POM
A Ponytail Drawstring (phondo) is a hairpiece constructed of synthetic hair attached to a lightweight mesh base. This is secured around the user's own hair, which is secured in a bun/ponytail. For best results, use it on relaxed hair.
1. Pull your natural hair into a bun or ponytail and tie with an elastic band at the top back of your head.
2. Secure the drawstring of the phondo around your own ponytail and tighten.
You can heat style human hair, but take care - the more heat you apply to the hair, the more you damage it. Heat damages the protein in the hair, making it dry and brittle. If you heat style the hair often, use a strong conditioning treatment to keep it moisturised.
We don't recommend using curling tongs or straightening irons on wavy / curly human hair wigs, Peruvians or Brazilian weaves. This is because a chemical treatment has been applied to the hair to set in the wave / curl. If you apply heat to straighten it, you could damage the hair. If you want straight hair, rather buy a straight wig / weave that is safe to heat style.
You can use straightening irons and curling tongs on hi-temp wigs, but ensure that the temperature of the tong / iron isn’t too high. Check the packaging for the temperature that the fibre can withstand. Heating with high temperatures or too frequently will shorten the lifespan of the wig and may damage the fibres.
Synthetic wigs shouldn't be exposed to heat, which will permanently damage and singe the hair fibres. This means that heated styling tools like curling irons, flat irons or hot rollers should be avoided. Remember to be cautious when cooking and to keep your head away from hot ovens, stoves or barbecue grills.
Lace front wigs: Lace front wigs have a lace strip sewn on the front. This can be trimmed to ensure the best fit and a natural look and feel. The hair is single knotted and hand tied, which gives the illusion of a natural hairline.
Full lace wigs: Full lace wigs have a lace front and lace cap, ensuring a breathable and comfortable fit.
Full wigs: Full wigs are usually more affordable than lace front wigs.
Virgin hair: Virgin hair is 100% natural, unprocessed, untreated, and the hair cuticles are intact. The hair cuticle is the outermost part of the hair shaft. It's formed from dead cells, overlapping in layers, forming scales that give the hair shaft strength and protection.
Remy hair: Remy hair is considered the finest quality human hair. This is because the cuticles are kept intact, unlike most other non-Remy hair extensions where they are stripped. Preserving the hair’s cuticles and aligning them in one direction creates extensions that are completely natural in appearance. This process ensures that the hair remains especially soft, shiny, silky and tangle-free.
Non-Remy hair: Non-Remy hair is the left-over hair that is often gathered from the floors of temples and salons. This hair is then recycled to make a weft. But, because the hair cuticles are facing various directions, the hair can tangle easily.
Single donor: Reference to a single donor means that the hair was gathered from a single person. This means that all of the cuticles will be facing downwards and in the same direction.
Fallen hair: Fallen hair refers to the hair strands that fall to the floor after collecting from multiple donors. Because it's swept up from the ground, the cuticles don't all face the same way. This means that fallen hair will tangle much easier than Remy hair, as the cuticles can lock together.
Ratio / draw: When looking at the fullness of a Brazilian bundle, we refer to 'ratio or draw', as bundles can be built up with different length hair. A good full draw will have a high ratio of long hairs.
Yaki: Yaki refers to the processed texture of the hair. It resembles chemically relaxed Afro hair.
Frosted colour: Frosted colour is one of the most popular colour mixes, as it's made up of sprinkles of colours throughout the piece. Frosted highlights add a touch of colour without changing the overall shade of the hair.
Two tone colours: Two colours (T colours) refers to the placement of strands of hair with one solid colour throughout the wig, varying the colour, thickness and length. This gives you a natural, blended look. Two-tone colour (TT Colour) refers to the fading of hair with a prominent solid colour at the roots into a solid highlight colour at the ends. This blend gives the appearance of ombre-style highlights or colour that has grown out.
Ombre colours: Ombre is a French word that means 'shading' or 'graduating'. It usually refers to having dark hair at the scalp and lighter hair at the ends.
You can dye human hair wigs or weaves that still have their natural colour. We don’t, however, recommend dying already dyed human hair.

Futura / Kanekalon is a high-quality synthetic hi-temp fibre produced in Japan. It's heat resistant up to 400°F, and it looks extremely similar to human hair. You can heat style these wigs as desired. After washing the wig, the wig will return to its original style due to the fibre. But since Futura is synthetic, you may not dye or perm these wigs.
